Can ya’ll believe July is already almost half way over?! IMO – we still have 8 weeks to rock our cute summer wedges! I’ve found SO many cute styles this year that I wanted to share with ya’ll in case you haven’t found THE pair just yet.
Since summer is quickly coming to an end – you also might be able to find these styles on sale. I’m confident each of these wedges will still be in style next summer!
Eyelash extensions are ALL the rage lately. Women of all ages have become more aware of the different lash options available as their popularity has grown tremendously over the past few years!
I believe in working with a professional who can make recommendations based on your individual needs. Shannon Amin is an eyelash stylist and did an excellent job at educating me on eyelash extensions. She even let me try them out myself!
In this podcast, Liv and I dive deeper into the topic of anxiety. This is the most vulnerable I have ever been on the internet, but I feel so passionately about this issue and have felt so enlightened recently after learning more about it.
Hey ya’ll! So I’ve been getting tons of questions lately about my hair and what I use to style it. I recently purchased the last pieces needed to complete the perfect blowout (shoutout to DRYBAR!) and I am now ready to share my process via YouTube.
The ten-day challenge is a wrap ladies! What a great way to start the year with a positive and strong body + mind.

Final Thoughts – Healthy Food + Fitness = Life
I’m currently excited to be working on a post about a new service I discovered, but realized I haven’t shared an update on the ten day challenge we completed! So briefly, here a few of the takeaways from the ten days of working out + healthy eating:
Working out ten days in a row made me feel stronger – both physically and mentally. Creating this habit can be hard, especially after taking a month off from going to the gym 3-4 times a week. But now that it’s over, I’m so ready to keep up my habit of working out and sweating it out! It really helps with my anxiety as well as self-image. Fat days are a real thing and they really blow. Working out is the biggest way to instantly feel better about myself and how my body is shaped. If you haven’t gotten back into the swing of things, not to worry. I’m going to share a post on the things I use to keep me motivated to workout! Stay tuned!
Eating healthy is also challenging (dreaming of queso…) but with planning, it isn’t so bad. I meal prepped my breakfast and lunches so that whenever it was time to eat, I didn’t let my mind wander on what I should eat or what I could eat (AKA Chick-fil-a always sounds good). I also planned my dinners I would be cooking ahead of time to help remain focused. My metabolism is pretty fast so I feel like I’m always hungry, which is what gets me in trouble. I used the My Fitness Pal to count calories and macros. I’m still learning what macros even are (LOL) but it truly is crazy how quickly things add up! It was a good reminder to not have those extra snacks because 2-3 snack sesh’s turn into 500-600 extra, unnecessary calories.
Not drinking is my biggest fault – I was unable to stick to the whole “don’t drink for ten days”. I had a birthday dinner, birthday brunch, double date night twice and board meeting. All 5 of these events included wine, which I only said no to at the brunch. I have a really hard time saying “no” in social situations. I almost always cave when my peers are enjoying a drink. When I’m at home or alone, I have control and I’m good. But this just shows me that I need to work on that part of myself in 2018!
Overall, I loved the challenge because I had several girlfriends and readers join in on the fun! We texted in a group message everyday different recipe and workout ideas. Accountability is the key to success for me and lots of other women. I can do anything I set my mind to, but I also need someone to hold me accountable. 🙂
After the challenge, I feel less heavy from the holidays, tighter all around, and plan to continue to count my calories and push it at the gym to shed a few more lbs from all my holiday indulging!
How do you stay fit? What’s your favorite thing to do to get back in shape after taking a little time off?!
Setting unrealistic fitness goals is what I do best (am I the only one?!) I have come to the realization that setting a goal of working out 5-7 days a week every single week for the rest of the year is unreasonable. At least, for me it is.
Work, volunteering, blogging, side gigging, working out, singing + all while maintaining a social life is quite the plate full. #millennialproblems
However…what wecan do is challenge ourselves for a (shorter) amount of time to help jump-start our year with healthier habits!
Starting this Sunday, I’m asking ALL girl bosses who are excited about the new year and who want to give their body a good kick in the rear to join me in The Candid Millennial 10 Day Challenge!
There’s nothing better than getting brand new makeup as a gift! It’s such a fun surprise, from the packaging, to the beautiful design of the product, to applying it and seeing what it looks like when you put it on your skin!
Whether you’re looking for something for your best friend, sister, mom or aunt, adding one or two of your favorite makeup items or brands to your gift is simply thoughtful and fun.
I’ve rounded up a few of my must-have beauty items that I use every single day to help get you started on the best gifts for your babes!
Black Friday is probably my favorite holiday of the year because I don’t think I like anything more than getting a great deal. I’m always sending friends coupons or sharing the latest sales in G-chat. I mean why pay full price for anything when you can always find a way to get it on sale?!
So low and behold, I am sharing my top 10 Black Friday picks this holiday season. Please note – I will list where you can buy these items online NOW.
Can ya’ll believe Thanksgiving is already here? I’m going to try and get a post up tomorrow with some last minute outfit inspiration for the big feast!
This year has been the fastest year of my life. I’m not sure if it has to do with my career change to sales or just the simple fact that time goes by faster as you get older, but I sure am wishing time would slow down just a bit!
This past weekend I visited my 95 year old grandfather in Nebraska. It’s honestly been at least 15 years since I’ve been to Oakland. It was actually nice to slow down, stop the rat race and smell the roses. Not literally, but you know 🙂
Stress, commitments and deadlines have all kept my mind super wired. Sometimes I don’t know if I can take much more, wondering if everything I have going on is going to lead me to a mental breakdown. Am I the only one who feels this way?!
Thankfully, the holidays are just around the corner and we will all get to slow it down for a minute, relax and spend time with those we love.
If you’re trying to find a way to unwind, relax and give your mind a rest, I have three of my favorite tips to do just that.
I think it’s safe to say that fall is my absolute FAVORITE time of year to shop for clothes. There’s something about booties, skinny jeans, and sweaters that make life seem so good and well put together.
Not to mention, on colder nights you can find me wrapped up in a blanket, catching up on Real Housewives and scrolling through Instagram looking for inspiration and connecting with others for hours. Please tell me I’m not alone in this…
Happy Labor Day my loves! Sorry I’ve been MIA since June. I started a new job and 100% of my focus has shifted to learning how to succeed in sales. More to come later this year! After the devastation from Hurricane Harvey was revealed, I felt it was my duty as a blogger to get a message out about how people in Dallas can help.
Our hearts sank last week whenever category 4 hurricane Harvey hit our beloved Houston. Images and videos of the devastation continue to pour in as our state has come together to pick up the pieces. While a natural disaster is never easy, members of communities all around didn’t hesitate in helping each other out. During a time of scary and sometimes violent disagreements, radical racism and political madness, it seems most people were able to put their opinions aside as we were forced to come together and get through this as One.
We have just begun our recovery efforts, and we have a long ways to go. If you haven’t found the right avenue to volunteer with or donate to, I hope to provide several options to suit any of your philanthropic desires. Houston needs us for months to come. I decided to donate money because right now I have barely enough time to wash my hair, so I simply encourage ya’ll to just do what you can.
Not into people? Help the dogs! Not into giving away money? Volunteer! Wish you had a full understanding of where your donation was going? Give supplies instead of money. Honestly, there’s something for everyone and it’s important that in times of need, we ALL step up to the plate and contribute. Every effort counts.

As I watched the waves hit the shoreline of the beach go back into the ocean, I let my mind flow freely. Thoughts of “should I take this risk?” and “Am I crazy for wanting more?” and “If I don’t do it, what will my day to day be like if I decline?”
Anxiety, fear, happiness, and joy are just a few of the feelings I experience daily. One moment I’m in pure bliss – then BOOM! – an unexpected or difficult situation occurs and a cloud of anxiety starts to creep in.
One feeling I don’t believe in is regret. I know it’s cliche to say “Yeah, I have no regrets” and it is so overused, especially for millennials. But in my life, not taking an opportunity would equal a regret. And I don’t want to live my life looking back and thinking “well what if I did XYZ”?
Aside from my career, I’ve taken a risk by doing many things I was honestly terrified to do. But I felt that in my heart it was what I was supposed to do. Some examples include auditioning for The Voice, joining a women’s group where I knew no one, leaving a relationship, auditioning for a local band, learning how to practice yoga, etc…
You see, all of the things listed above are things I used to be afraid of. Now that I took a risk by trying new or scary things regularly, I have more confidence each time I push my own limits.
Yesterday I found the perfect message painted on the wall of one of our local favorites. Te quiero mucho! I love you! Body love, self love, and love for others is what makes this world go round 🙂
Candid Moment: Final Thoughts On The 24 Day Challenge
First, I just wanted to say I’m sorry it’s taken a few weeks to write this final post! I’ve been trying to gather my thoughts so that I could write a post that meaningfully explains my experience during those short 24 days in April.
When I start to think about how I feel now that the challenge is over, one word comes to mind. And that word is peace.
I lost a ton of weight. This weight is not the kind of weight that I carry in my hips or thighs. I carried an excess of weight in my head: negative thoughts, doubts, fears and insecurities.
Now that this challenge is over, I am finally at peace with my body for the first time. I am at peace with the fact that I have a perfectly unperfect body. And that is just okay with me.
In all reality, I did lose five physical pounds on this challenge. But after it was over, I was thankful for my body and what it is capable of.
Before diving in too deep, I wanted to share a few lessons I learned and am still learning after this challenge.
